Brightness

So this past week has been a true week of trials. Last Wednesday we got news that my Grandma from Indiana (my Mom's mom) who has been fighting leg melanoma has stage 4 melanoma in her lung. Which pretty much means it's terminal. They can't operate or do chemo not that I think she would do either. She is SICK of hospitals and doctors after undergoing something like 13 surgeries in 7 months. So Andy and I went into planning mode, my best way to handle news like this. When could we go to Indiana, how, and how much would it cost? All those questions. Our biggest question how would Maddux do on the 10 hour drive? We went to St Louis a few weeks ago and that about did him in. So we are dealing with that. I believe we are going to try to make the trip over 4 th of July. Andy has time off already so it would make the most sense to go then.... there are still a lot of questions though so we are STILL trying to figure it all out. So my life changes again.... My best friend Shari told me the first year of Motherhood is super hard because once you have things figured out your child will change things up on you and you will be lost all over again!!! And she was SO right!!! So I had my child on a schedule, knew when he would nap, when he would eat, go to sleep at night, etc.. My son has decided to change things up on me and keep things "fresh" for me. He is now not sleeping on his usual schedule, not eating on his normal schedule, not pooping on his normal schedule and not going to sleep at his normal schedule and now he is becoming mobile. I wouldn't call it crawling or even army crawling, I would call it inchworming . Seriously he looks like an inchworm as he uses his feet, his butt, his head and occasionally a shoulder or an arm to propel him across the floor in an inchworm fashion. It's hilarious and terrifying for me! I am NOT ready for my "baby" to be even less dependant on me....

So our lives are becoming more adventurous these days. It starts of course with Maddux . He is not quite mobile in the most truest of sense but he is rolling over to move where he wants. He wants to crawl SO bad but can't seem to get the feet and arms up at the same time. He can do one at a time but not together. Which I'm ok with. My life will be even more " adventurous " once he begins that next stage! He will be 9 months on the 28 th of this month and I can hardly believe that. Where did my baby go? I enjoy this stage but I miss those baby cuddles. Now cuddles are interrupted by Maddux trying to twist his way out of your arms. He is SO active. This scares me for the future! I have a feeling he will be on the go all the time. JOY! :) He is the most precious child. I am ever so grateful for him everyday, even on the days that are ruff which have been a few lately. He's teething.... He has two teeth on the bottom front. So he's a drooling monkey and grum...

So Maddux is 7 months now. Where did the time go? Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying where my son is now. He's sleeping, laughing, giggling, recognizing us, verbalizing, and just more mobile than he once was but where did my baby go? He is HUGE! Well 17lbs and something like 10oz. He is getting longer too, 26+ inches. He is outgrowing his baby carseat . Where has the time gone? I try everyday to relish in the stage he is in now, because I know it will be gone soon. Oh how sad to have our children grow up on us, but the alternative, I can't imagine, so I will happily take him growing up to him not growing at all!! Maddux is becoming more mobile but not crawling. He is figuring out how to put his back legs up under him, but not very well. :) He rolls all around to get where he wants to but the lack of mobility really bugs him. He is such a first born child!! :) He is already independent and doesn't want me kissing all over him all the time. He likes to snuggle but only ...

So, Maddux has now been sleeping through the night in his crib for a week. PRAISE THE LORD!! Now that doesn't mean that I get any more sleep.... we have a video monitor, worth the money by the way, and everytime he coughs, grunts, moves, rubs his eyes I wake up. But as the week has gone by it get's less and less. I am just thankful that he is doing so good in his crib. My friend Shari told me, "he will tell you when he's ready for his crib", and sure enough she was right! :) It is a HUGE blessing! We put him down at 8pm and he sleeps until around 5:30 or 6:30a.m. which I think is really good. Then Andy will feed him and bring him to bed with me and he will sleep for about another hour to two. And I get the snuggles!! :) Ahhhh, the pleasure of some sleep! Tonight our next big test. We are leaving Maddux with his Grammie (my mom) while we go out to dinner with some friends. She is coming over, but it is still hard to leave him in someone else's care you know? I...

So as far as news goes on our family, there is just little to talk about and all of it is about Maddux. He is getting BIG! On the 28th of this month he will be 6 months old, my how the time did fly! He is healty and growing, almost out of his 3-6 months clothes, which is pretty sad. 6-9 month clothing seems so big, but his other clothes are getting so tight, I think it's time for me to switch up. A sad day for a Mommy!! :) He has been eating rice cereal for almost a month now and we started vegetables earlier this month too. He didn't like the texture of rice cereal at first, but now grunts everytime you don't feed him fast enough. We started with peas and he seemed to like them ok until he got diarreah. I don't know if he had a virus or if he was allergic but let's just say after one day of changing 20 VERY poopy diapers and not having my son feel good for 3, I am NOT about to start him with peas again. So I guess this week is a week for firsts in our family. Thursday Maddux got shots again, booo. He did ok, screamed like a stuck pig, but hello they give them 3 shots, it really sucks for them and they don't understand. It was harder on me this time than the last. But that wasn't our week of firsts that was just a side note. :) It started off on Friday Maddux ran his first real fever, 99.5, that's pretty high for the little guy who runs around 97.6! So that made me sad. But than Friday night we had our first bites of rice cereal. He took 2 bites then wouldn't open his mouth at all for anymore. In fact, he pursed his lips together and wouldn't open them until the bottle came! This could be a harder transition than I thought it would be! :) Then today, Saturday, he had his first hair cut. Yes at 4 months old he needed a hair cut. So we went to Cookie Cutters and they did AMAZING! They are a little pricey, $16.95 for a hair cut with a certificate is a little high but i...
